Jackson Hospital Montgomery, Alabama
Physician Analyst Date: 10/2005-06/2006
Physician Analyst Project Highlights
In my final position at Jackson Hospital I actively participated in various projects associated with software testing and installation of a $22 million McKesson Hospital Information System (HIS). I was Team Leader for testing and implementing the Physician Web Portal which streamlines the way physicians can monitor their patients. The portal allowed for access to real time lab results; the ability to view x-rays, MRIs and CT Scans remotely, review the patient digital medical record, sign physician orders, and assorted other common tasks that physicians perform. The portal was secured using the Juniper Networks Secure Access 4000 on which I was trained to maintain. The Juniper web appliance used SSL and LDAP for authentication to the various applications the portal aggregated and displayed. The initial portal was and “out of the box” application developed by Vignette, and we custom built java data beans to deliver the content requested by physicians. The beans were developed using Netbeans, Textpad, and BEA Weblogic. Planned, maintained, and tested programs associated with Clinical Informatics to ensure applications meet the needs of the staff. Maintained up to date knowledge of trends and advances in Health Informatics as well as hardware and software technology. Performed various special tasks as needed at the request of Chief Executive Officer and Chief Information Officer. This position had the responsibility for the analysis, design, development, documentation, implementation and maintenance of business processes related to healthcare information systems, other activities included identification of system and process issues that required definition and resolution within the organization. The position served as a liaison between medical staff departments and information systems; ensuring that applications were current, accurate, responsive, confidential and met JCAHO and other regulatory standards for providing care.
